Dalston Town Tales
Dalston   Town   Tales   was   LandSky’s   first   collaboration   with   HACKNEY LIBRARIES    to   create   a   summer-time   opportunity   for   local   children   to discover the magic of books and reading. All   events   were   in   or   around   the   Dalston   CLR   James   Libary.      The   first took   place   on   27th   July   2013   and   had   a   football   theme.      It   was      followed on 30th August by a day of events with authors who write about history.    Both   days   featured   music   from   Mrs   H   and   the   Singalong   Band   as   well   as workshops   with   illustrators   and   a   ‘build   your   own   pop   up   book’   session, with renowned paper engineer Nick Denchfield.

Dalston Town Tales is part of the DALSTON CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL which had events happening throughout summer 2013.  This selection of photographs provide a flavour of the events.  It was very much in keeping with LandSky’s mission to engage children from all kinds of backgrounds with literature and the arts.  Sarah Hadland, who stars in TV’s Horrible Histories and Miranda, kindly took part in our second day of events.  She has now become a patron of LandSky’s children’s book festivals, like TOWN HALL TALES 2.
